The Education Department has identified 13 universities and 57 colleges in Bihar that are eligible for participation in NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023. The Education Department has asked all these universities and vice-chancellors to participate in NIRF 2023. NIRF currently has only two educational institutes in Bihar. At present, the education department is making concrete preparations for the next ranking.
Dr. Gaurav Sikka, Academic Officer of Bihar Higher Education Council, said that the joining of our institutions in NIRF gives rank. This enhances the prestige of the institutions. The educational institution gets recognition at the national level. Better avenues of placement and higher education are opened to the students of such institutions. In the ranking of NIRF 2022, two educational institutions of Bihar are in the top-100. These are IIT Patna and NIT Patna.

The Education Department has identified those educational institutions of the state for NIRF 23, which have been in B plus or above grade in NAAC grade. Apart from this, such educational institutions which are participating in the second, third and fourth consecutive rounds of NAAC grading.

Among such educational institutions, 13 identified universities of the state include Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Bihar Agriculture University, Sabor, Bihar Animal Science University Patna, Jai Prakash University, Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Lalit Narayan Mithila University. , Magadh University, Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic Persian University, Patna University, TM Bhagalpur University and Veer Kunwar Singh University.
57 Special Colleges Identified
Apart from this, 57 special colleges have also been identified. At present, Asangba Chuba Aao, Director of the Bihar Higher Education Council and Secretary of the Education Department, has written an official letter to the Vice Chancellors of the respective universities and the principals of colleges asking them to enroll for NIRF 23 on time.
