Mukhtar Ansari News: Mafia Mukhtar Ansari is in jail for almost 17 years. During this, he has been in the news for allegedly operating his gang from behind bars. He and his family members have faced several criminal cases in the last two years. This includes his wife, son, brother and close associates. Of these, seven cases are registered against Ansari, two against his wife Afsha, four against elder son Abbas, two against younger son Umar and two against Mukhtar’s two-year-old Atif Raza alias. Sharjeel Raza and Anwar Shahzad. Barring Umar Ansari, everyone else has been declared absconders by the courts.

According to the records of the UP Police, there are a total of 59 cases against Ansari. Of these, 20 cases were registered while he was in jail. Of these, four are murder cases and seven are under the UP Gangster Act. The UP government has attached assets worth Rs 448.98 crore of Ansari, his family members and associates. The government has also demolished a hotel in Ghazipur district citing irregularities in construction.
A look at Mukhtar Ansari
Mukhtar Ansari is a native of Ghazipur district of Eastern UP. Ansari has won five times from Mau Sadar seat. He has contested from this seat twice as a BSP candidate and thrice as an independent. In 2010, after being defeated twice in the Lok Sabha elections while in the BSP, he formed his political organization Quami Ekta Dal (QED), making his elder brother Afzal Ansari the president. In the 2022 assembly elections, he contested his elder son Abbas from Mau (Sadar) on a Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) ticket. In this election, Abbas defeated Ashok Kumar Singh of BJP. Ansari’s nephew Suhaib Ali alias Mannu won the 2022 election from Mohammadabad in Ghazipur by defeating BJP’s Alka Rai on an SP ticket. Here Ansari has been in jail since October 2005 after he surrendered in a communal riot case in Mau. Seven people died in this.
LDA has also taken action
Besides the matter being probed by the Uttar Pradesh Police, last year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had registered a case against Ansari under the Money Laundering Act for alleged land-grabbing and illegal businesses allegedly run by the UP Police. was registered on the basis of several cases of Two weeks ago, the ED had raided a premises belonging to Afzal, elder brother of BSP MP from Ghazipur, Mukhtar. Earlier in 2020, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) had demolished two buildings registered in the name of Ansaris.
Son Abbas Ansari is also in custody
Ansari was in the news a lot last year as well. He is lodged in Ropar Jail in Punjab, UP government sought his custody but Punjab refused the request of Uttar Pradesh government citing illness and kept giving him VIP facility in jail. Finally, after the order of the Supreme Court, it was possible to bring him to UP. Now he is detained in Banda Jail in UP. However, while he was lodged in Punjab Jail, the UP Police had registered a case against Ansari and others in a case related to submission of forged documents for registration of an ambulance. At the same time, Mukhtar Ansari’s 29-year-old elder son Abbas Ansari has a 2019 case registered against him for alleged cheating and violation of arms license at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow.
