Police suspect politically motivated murder

The Jandira Police, in Greater São Paulo, suspect political motivation in the murder of former councilor Reginaldo Camilo dos Santos (PT), better known as Zezinho. At age 51, he was killed this Friday, 28, in Jandira, São Paulo. According to the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM), the crime took place at 5:25 pm, in the Jardim Gabriela neighborhood.

The team from the Homicide Sector of the Carapicuíba Section stated that it does not rule out any possibility, but the initial suspicion is of political revenge, motivated by recent allegations made by Zezinho of an alleged corruption scheme in the Jandira City Hall.

Some residents who witnessed the murder told GCM that a vehicle with an armed person approached Zezinho and shot him at point-blank range. The guard still doesn’t know the motive for the murder.

The former PT councilor was the author of several accusations of corruption in the city, mainly in areas such as health and municipal procurement. In these elections, he ran for federal deputy, but was not elected. Zezinho had only 8,800 votes.
