Moraes gives PF and PRF 4 hours to explain themselves

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), gave the Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) four hours to explain their actions in the run-up to the second round of elections. The decision was signed this Saturday, 29.

“There are news of initiatives that may have an influence on the electoral process, and it is, therefore, the competence of this Superior Electoral Court to supervise the fairness of the procedures so that the parity in the elections does not change”, wrote the minister.

Moraes’ objective is to have information about an alleged influence of police actions in this year’s election. The action was brought by federal deputy Paulo Teixeira (PT-SP).

The congressman argued that several recent news indicates an alleged “rigging of the PRF and the PF to benefit” the president candidate for reelection Jair Bolsonaro (PL). In the action, the PT said that episodes of instrumentalization of institutions to “create artificial political facts and interfere in the electoral process” are increasingly “frequent”.

Thus, the president of the TSE determined that Silvinei Vasques, director of the PRF, inform the procedures and objectives of operations on the federal roads of Bahia; and that the PRF collaborate with the Electoral Justice to be effective in the “necessary guarantees of full public transport to voters”.

In addition, that the director of the PF, Márcio Nunes de Oliveira, inform immediately and in detail all the seizures disclosed by the Ministry of Justice and if there is evidence or indications that these seizures fall under “the competence of the Electoral Justice”.

Today, Minister Anderson Torres, of Justice and Public Security, published on social media that R$ 5 million in cash was seized (on Friday), during a security operation in the elections.

On Twitter, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT), president of the acronym, said that there are complaints about the alleged instrumentalization of corporations by the government.
