Lula’s propaganda that associates Jefferson with Bolsonaro is deleted

Minister Maria Isabel Gallotti, from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), ordered the suspension of an advertisement by Lula (PT), presidential candidate, on TV, which associates president and candidate for reelection Jair Bolsonaro (PL) with violence against women. The advertisement also refers the attack by former deputy Roberto Jefferson (PTB-RJ) on four federal police.

The decision is in response to a campaign action by the chief executive, who argued that the propaganda is “irrefutably defamatory”, as it links Bolsonaro to “serious contexts of violence in which he took no part”.

In her decision, the minister highlighted that the president has “a well-known arms policy”, but that he does not associate Bolsonaro’s speech with the weaponization of organized crime or violence against women.

“There is no link in her speech with encouraging the arming of organized crime, violence against women, arming children or urban violence”, declared Maria Isabel. “Equally, no manifestation of support by the candidate Bolsonaro for the acts carried out by Roberto Jefferson against the Federal Police is known.”

On Sunday 23, the Federal Police went to Jefferson’s house to execute an arrest warrant in flagrante delicto at the request of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. At the time, the politician shot at the police and threw grenades.

After eight hours of negotiation, the former parliamentarian turned himself in to justice. On the same date, Bolsonaro said that “whoever shoots a police officer is a criminal”, distancing himself from Jefferson. If the PT’s propaganda continues to circulate, the campaign will have to pay a fine of R$25,000.
