A report reveals the different aspects of consumption that Argentines have. In the study, where you access PROFILE, it is highlighted that 90.8% of Argentines do not follow any type of diet.

The work was carried out by Fundación Colsecor, on a base of 1,422 cases between July 15 and August 4, 2022, and shows which are the main variables that regulate food consumption.

According to the document, 71% of Argentines claim to eat meat. In this sense, it is worth clarifying that on the ground they are “assumed omnivores”, rather they consume meat frequently, including bovine, cerdo, pollo or pavo meat. 25% of the surveys, however, have a “flexitarian style”, that is, they consume meat once in a while, but at the same time they are trying to reduce its consumption in the future. This means that 1 in 4 are flexitarian, while the remaining 1% are vegan.

Among the results obtained by the digital survey, it is maintained that, in order to face inflation, 50% of the people surveyed recognize that they buy the offers that are found in supermarkets and only buy the foods they are going to consume in the short term. .

For 95% of those surveyed, the most usual preparation of the foods they consume is cooked at home, where priority is given to precooked foods such as pizzas, frozen ready to use, prepared or cooked at home (ordered for delivery) which do not need to be cooked. In this case, the most common place to eat is the house, except for 93%. There is only 3% on your job.

61.3% of the surveys also state that meat consumption is unsustitutable in their diet. In this case, the proportion of men who subscribe this statement is greater than that of women: 69.1% and 52.2% respectively. Even though 65% of those consulted on average agree that eating meat is a natural and indisputable practice, once again the marked difference in support of this statement according to gender is evident: 80% of men compared to 58% of women. Only 14% support that you would feel good with a meat-free diet.

Another data that revealed the consumption analysis of Argentines was that 32% of the people surveyed assured that they ate more food from the account 1 or 2 times a week, while the remaining 15% stated that they had done so throughout the day.

20% of Argentines are “very indifferent” to the idea that killing for food is something indispensable for living, and rejection is particularly explicit among young people aged 15 to 24, who oppose the idea, 41 %. As an additional data, the men are “very agreeable” with this statement at 28% (which doubles the percentage of women who agree with the idea).

The most consumed type of meat this year was the cow, with 48%, followed by the poultry meat with 36%. This data refers only to the cantidad, not to the frequency in which the pollo is consumed with more daily frequency.

According to the Fundación report, the most common practice to consume less meat is to eat more chic portions of meat (35% of those interviewed, at least, indicated they had it). In this sense, 28% stated that they substituted meat for vegetables and plant-based foods (such as hamburgers or sausages) which they choose for a day when they do not consume meat. These practices are more common in cities with more than 100 thousand inhabitants: 34% and 30% respectively (compared to 18% and 24% in cities with less than 10 thousand inhabitants).

In this case, only 22% would consume a plant-based diet or vegetable products that could replace conventional meat when the nutritional supply of these foods is equal to the best meat. The support for this statement is significantly lower among those who are in high school (14% compared to 24% of those who hold estudios universitarios). I do not support the idea that in order to consume these vegetable foods, they must have a taste practically the same as that of the meat, and only 11% were affirmative in this regard.

According to the report, the two options that most people chose to take care of their body during exercise (43%), and take care of their own nutrition (40%). The most notable difference is the gender, and the men choose the first option at 51%, compared to 40% on the part of women. In exchange, women chose to take care of their diet in 44% compared to 35% of men who opted for this practice.
