Ranchi: The Ukraine-Russia war has affected the CTVS department of the state’s largest hospital RIMS. Heart surgery is closed in CTVS department. The breath of more than 35 patients admitted under Ayushman is stuck. This problem has happened due to interruption of supply of oxygenator membrane used in heart lung machine. The problem of oxygenator is being faced by patients weighing more than 25 kg, while it is available for patients weighing below that.
Doctors have planned heart surgery for a 19 kg child in RIMS. Here, Dr. Vineet Mahajan, Head of the Department of CTVS Department has informed the RIMS superintendent about the non-availability of oxygenator and the operation has stopped on Thursday. It is expected that oxygenator will be available in five to six days. Experts say that black marketing of oxygenator is also happening. Oxygenators are being provided to private hospitals at an additional cost of Rs 35 to 40 thousand. This is where the operation is going on.
Suppliers provide 15 to 17 thousand under Ayushman: Under Ayushman, suppliers provide oxygenators for 15 to 17 thousand to patients admitted to RIMS. In such a situation, when it is available at a higher price, the suppliers are not paying attention to it. At the same time, the payment of Ayushman supplier is done by RIMS in one to two years, so the suppliers are not showing interest. Oxygenator is used in heart lung machine, it helps when the heart stops during operation
The head of the department of CTVS has written a letter informing about the closure of heart surgery due to non-availability of oxygenator. In the letter, he has given the reason for the Ukraine-Russia war, which has also been mentioned in the major hospitals of the country. Efforts are also being made from the administrative level to make the equipment available soon.
