A case of rape has been registered against Nepal cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane on Tuesday. The Kathmandu Police has filed a complaint against Sandeep with the allegation of raping a minor. The police registered a case after the victim’s medical examination confirmed her. According to reports, the incident happened before the Nepalese team went to Kenya for a bilateral series.
Sandeep Lamichhane is currently the captain of the Nepal team in the T20 format. He is currently playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the Jamaica Tallawahs in St. Lucia. He left the national team after playing a five-match T20I series, which Nepal won 3–2. Lamichhane was absent in Nepal’s 3-0 win in the one-day series as he chose to play the CPL during this time. Lamichhane is considered one of the most promising young players in World T20 cricket.

Sandeep Lamichhane is the first Nepalese cricketer to play IPL. In the year 2018, Delhi Daredevils bought him for the first time in the auction for 20 lakh rupees. 17-year-old Lamichhane is a leg-spinner. He had a stellar performance in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, helping Nepal finish eighth. Sandeep Lamichhane is also involved in the Big Bash League and has performed brilliantly in the tournament.
