Kanpur News: The speed of MEMU trains running on all-round routes from Kanpur Central has been fixed, MEMU train will run on the track at the speed of Mail-Express. Eight rakes of MEMU running at a speed of 110 km have come to Kanpur Central. New rakes of MEMU which are modern and equipped with more facilities are yet to come from Chennai.
The journey from Kanpur to Farurkhabad by the new MEMU rake will now take just 135 minutes. At the same time, the journey of Jhansi will be completed in 190 minutes. Till now, the passenger train from Kanpur to Farrukhabad used to take three and a half hours, while the passenger train took four and a half hours to reach Jhansi. Till now, the maximum speed of MEMU was 90 km. On the routes where DMU used to run till now and the routes there have been electrified, then DMU racks will be replaced there too.
New MEMU will run on this route
The new MEMU train will run from Kanpur to Tundla, Kanpur to Bithoor, Jhansi, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Prayagraj, Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Lucknow, Shikohabad, Etawah.
MEMU’s maintenance will be done in Kanpur only
A modern MEMU maintenance shed has been built in Kanpur, which is built near the new coaching complex, the same has been started as MEMU maintenance shed in Kanpur. Now MEMU will not have to go to Ghaziabad for maintenance. Now the maintenance of the new MEMU rake running across North Central Railway will also be done in Kanpur as it used to take a lot of time for maintenance in Ghaziabad.
