Patna . BTET candidates were again lathi-lashed at Gandhi Maidan and Dakbangla intersection on Friday. The protesting candidates were beaten up by running. During this, the candidate Khushi Kumari was injured, who was hurriedly admitted to PMCH. In fact, due to lack of BTET exam for five years, the agitated candidates took out a demonstration from Gandhi Maidan. When the police present in large numbers stopped the candidates from going to the Raj Bhavan, the protesters present in large numbers got furious and started moving towards Dak Bungalow. Even after stopping, when the candidates did not stop, the police lathi-charged. Soon a stampede broke out in the Gandhi Maidan area.
Demonstration at Dakbangla intersection
After being dispersed by lathi charge, around one and a half o’clock all the candidates formed a group and reached the Dakbangla intersection and started a ruckus. After this the police again lathi-charged. During this the police of Kotwali police station and Gandhi Maidan were present. Eight protesters, including two women, were also taken into custody by the police. Kotwali SHO Sanjeet Kumar said that all the eight detained candidates have been released after filling bonds.
Attempted self-immolation by sprinkling petrol, splashing on officials too
During the commotion, candidate Abhishek Kumar sprinkled petrol on himself. It was about to set on fire that the officers and policemen present on the spot grabbed hands and took them into their possession. While sprinkling petrol, the ADM was also splattered. After this the police arrested Abhishek.
Everyone reached Rabri residence, gave application
After the performance, all the candidates reached Rabri residence late in the evening. In view of the huge crowd of candidates, the police of Secretariat police station also reached. Krishna Kumar Rai, media in-charge of BTET (Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test) union said that the application has been given to Tejashwi Yadav’s PA. At the same time, we will also meet the Education Minister and will keep our demands with him.
They were protesting in Gardanibagh for three months.
The media in-charge said that for the last three months, they were protesting in Gardanibagh. During this no officer or minister was paying attention to our demand. Actually, the demand of BTET candidates is that BTET exam has not been taken for the last five years, it should be taken as soon as possible. If despite this our demands are not met, then there will be more fierce demonstrations.
