Governor-elect Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) announced on Wednesday the 23rd the name of the Secretary of Health who will head the portfolio from 2023. Eleuses Paiva (PSD) was part of the campaign team and was responsible for coordinating the theme in the construction of the government plan.
Born in Santos, Paiva, aged 69, was president of the Brazilian Medical Association. He was vice-mayor of São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of the State, and served in the Chamber of Deputies in three legislatures, two of them as an alternate.
“Eleuses is a person of extreme confidence, he has a technical profile, just like what I had promised to the secretariat of the State of São Paulo, and he actively participated in the construction of our health plan”, evaluated Tarcísio.
During the campaign, Paiva said that one of the focuses of the new government in the area of health will be the integration of primary care with city halls and investment in telemedicine.
Paiva is the second secretary announced by the elected governor. The current head of the Department of Education in Paraná, Renato Feder, will lead the area in São Paulo.
