The Justice of Rio denied the habeas corpus The Brendon Alexander Luz da Silvaone of the three accused of killing the Congolese Moïse Mugenyi Kabagambe. With the decision of the 1st Criminal Chamber of Rio, the defendant’s preventive detention was maintained.
the request of habeas corpus was done in defense of Brendon, who alleged that he was suffering illegal embarrassment by the judgment of the 1st Chamber. The judges considered, however, that maintaining the prison does not represent constraint and that it is necessary to guarantee public order.
Brendon and two other men, Aleson Cristiano de Oliveira Fonseca and Fabio Pirineus da Silvarespond to criminal proceedings for the murder of Moise Kabagambe in January of this year and had preventive detention decreed on February 22. They are accused of knocking down, tying, beating and killing the Congolese for not having resisted the attacks.
