government will decide TODAY what will happen to the program

The new government elected for 2023, formed by Lula (PT) and Alckmin (PSB) is having some impasses to approve the budget for next year. The vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin, is taking the lead in government transition negotiations and has been talking to the Chamber of Deputies about the approval of the Transition PEC. Within this PEC is the direction of the Bolsa Família social program.

In order for Bolsa Família to continue to be paid in the amount of R$600.00, the Project that is discussed in the chamber needs to be revised, and this is the work that the transition team is currently having.

The vice president-elect has already informed that there is a chance that Bolsa Família will be excluded from this negotiation at first. “The proposal forwarded is that Bolsa Família will not be included in the next 30 days. Of course, we are going to listen to the suggestions and considerations, listen to the pronouncements of the Legislative Houses”, he said.

Next steps for Bolsa Familia

This discussion, about changing the PEC of Precatories sent by Bolsonaro and approved by congress, does not yet have a forecast to start. For this reason, Geraldo Alckmin has already informed that the government’s priority is to be able to increase the budget for next year, so that Bolsa Família would be able to be paid in the amount of R$600.00.

“The ideal is to make a combination between the ceiling, with the evolution of the debt curve and the primary result”, said Alckmin.

Among the government’s other proposals for next year’s aid, in addition to setting the R$600.00 installment, is: increasing R$150.00 in the value of the benefit for families with children up to six years old.
